Is Lucy Saved?

No. Lucy is not saved by the blood of Christ. She is not human.

Can Lucy sin? No, animals cannot sin.

Who is capable of sin? Only humans. Only humans rebel against God. Only humans are created in the image of God and are to responsible for obeying God. As God's image bearers we are unique and special. But, along with that we have the responsibly to show God's character by obeying God (the Ten Commandments for example). Jesus, in His incarnation, fully and completely obeyed God.

"Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work." - John 4:34

We are to be like Jesus.

If evolution is true (it's not), and we are related to Lucy (we're not) who is an animal, at what point in the progress of evolution did mankind take on the image of God? If evolution is true, we can not go to scripture for the answer. Scripture describes God as creating everything in six days, including creating the first man and woman on the sixth day. It says nothing about a point in time at which an ape (an animal) became a human.

Wouldn't God Tell Us?

Why has God given us the Bible? To tell us about ourselves, who we are and the situation we are in (fallen sinners). And tell us abut Himself and what He has done about the situation we are in (the cross). But, if we have evolved from some other living thing, wouldn't that be a significant part of the story?

And if humanity didn't come into existence until about 3 million years ago, that means the first human didn't sin until about 3 million years ago. So death did not come into the world until about 3 million years ago.

"Just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned" - Romans 5:12

There was no death in the world until a man (Adam) sinned. Yet evolution happens through random mutations and natural selection. Natural selection uses death to select those best fit to survive. That was going on for hundreds of millions of years before the first human evolved. Do you see the problem?

Either evolution is right or the Bible is right. Trying to fit evolution and billions of years into the Bible does not work. God did not use evolution as a creative tool. There are only two options. Molecules to man evolution or the Bible as understand from a plain reading. And the evidence does not support evolution.
