It Is Finished
Notice that the cross is empty. Jesus is not on the cross. That's important. Jesus is no longer on the cross, His work on the cross is finished.
Jesus' last words, as He was hanging on the cross, were "It is finished."
"Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished!' And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit." - John 19:30
Jesus was saying that what He had come to earth to do was finished. There was no more to be done. He had lived a perfect life as a man. He taught His followers. And as He was dying physically on the cross He paid the penalty for sin for everyone who would be saved...past, present and future. There was nothing more to do. The penalty for sin had been paid in full.
Jesus did it all. It is finished. There is nothing for you to do, nor is there anything you can do. Believe this is true. Repent. Turn away from disobeying God. Read His word in the Bible, and do what He says.
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Yes, there is life after your physical death. The story does not end on the cross. On the third day Jesus Christ rose from the dead, proving that everything He said and promised is true! With Jesus as your Savior death is the beginning, not the end. Praise God!
